The winner of the U.S. Open, Serena Williams, slammed Russian tennis chief Shamil Tarpischev for recent remarks.

The chief described Serena and her sister as the “Williams Brothers” on a late night TV chat show.  He also said the sisters looked scary.  Serena called the remarks “insensitive, sexist and racist.”

The chief was banned by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) for a year and fined $25,000.

He also made a public apology, saying the comments were a small joke.
