2017 Super Bowl Scheduled for February 5 at NRG Stadium
HOUSTON — The National Football League today announced the official date for Super Bowl LI to be played at Houston’s NRG Stadium as February 5, 2017.
“We are excited to now know the date, and the Houston Super Bowl LI Host Committee is proud and eager to lock in the countdown to kick-off,” said Host Committee Chairman Ric Campo. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to showcase Houston as the forward-looking, global city that it is, as well as come together as a community and have a great time.”
“We are thankful our good friend Bob McNair and the other NFL owners are returning the Super Bowl to the best venue in America,” said host committee Honorary Chairman James A. Baker, III, the 61st U.S. Secretary of State. “We plan to return that favor by hosting a celebration with our special Houston flair, and we are already deep into the preparation for it.”
The Super Bowl LI experience will include more than a week’s worth of activities and public events leading up to the game.
The Super Bowl is annually the most watched television program in the United States with an average audience of more than 100 million viewers, as well as one of the most watched events worldwide.
The announcement comes exactly two years from the date Houston was awarded Super Bowl LI on May 21, 2013.
