What a freaking loser! A 28-second video released by TMZ shows Jacksonville Jaguars player Dante Fowler appearing to referee a fight between his girlfriend and the mother of his child.
The 21-year-old stands there, doing nothing, as the two women fight in a hallway in front of an elevator. The incident was captured on surveillance video on Feb.1.
Of course, after the video surfaced, Fowler released a statement apologizing for the incident, which unfortunately for him and the women, is in cyberspace forever for the world to see.
“As a family, we have been dealing with this moment and the conflict that led to it since this occurred. The video surfacing is a sad reminder that emotions got the best of all of us. I take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happened,” Fowler said.,
Jaguar officials said Fowler brought the matter to their attention before the video surfaced.
“Violence of this type against others is unacceptable in our society and to our organization,” the team’s statement said. “We will continue to look into the incident while offering resources and providing support to Dante and his family to help them through this private matter.”
Fowler’s actions, or lack thereof, go against the NFL’s code of conduct, and can cause somewhat of a a black eye on his character.
“These are disturbing images, and we will review the matter,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said.
Fowler played for the University of Florida and was the Jaguars’ first-round draft pick in 2015.
Fowler, who signed a $23.5 million contract, has not played a game for the Jaguars yet because he tore his ACL on the first day of mini-camp and missed his entire rookie season.
We suspect that could be the reason that he has a lot of time on his hands to referee “girl fights.”
