A popular nightclub in Uptown Houston is under fire as concerns of racism continue to rise. Many Houstonians have sounded off on social media about The Gaslamp nightclub.

Club owners and management said in the past that many were denied entry because of dress code, disputing claims of racism, but once again, others are crying foul. Today reviews on the club’s social media page have risen and not for the better.

People of various races are now claiming that the owner is racist against foreigners and, in one quote, “anyone who is not white.”

A native Houstonian and singer, Ashley Toman, was recently asked to sing at the lounge, but denied the request. Toman posted the reason why on her Facebook page.

“Just declined a gig at Gaslamp Midtown and want it to be known that I will never step foot in that racist bar. I personally witnessed two of my friends who are both black individuals, get turned away for wearing Jordans and a snapback, when it was apparent that they were allowing white people inside with the same accessories.

It was then documented that the same S*** happened again multiple times. I do not support that establishment and will not accept a gig there, no matter how much money is being offered. I don’t stand for how they treat customers and it sickens me that this behavior is acceptable in 2015,” the post said.

Many have posted similar sayings on the lounge’s social media pages.

One post read, “This club practices racist door policies that target minorities. They charge minority males cover and allow caucasian males to enter for free.”

The owners of the establishment have not yet responded to the latest claims of racism. Many have vowed to never re-enter unless a new owner takes over.
