Did you know that Feb. 25 marked 19 years since R. Kelly’s hit, I Believe I Can Fly, won a Grammy?
Recognized and awarded at the 40th Annual Grammy Awards show in 1998, R. Kelly won a Grammy for Best Male R & B Vocal on his classic hit song that had everyone singing to the top of their lungs!
Along with R. Kelly, other nominees, such as Kenny Lattimore- For You, Curtis Mayfield- Back To Living Again, Usher- You Make Me Wanna, and Luther Vandross When You Call On Me/Baby That’s When I Come Runnin’, were recognized for their hits in the Best Male R & B Vocal category at the 40th Annual Grammys.
I know you guys remember that Kelly’s hit was also featured on the 1996 classic film Space Jam, starring Michael Jordan and the animated squad from Looney Tunes.
During his acceptance speech, Kelly made a heartfelt statement:
“You know when you pray for something, you get it better than what you’ve prayed for.”
