HOUSTON – Houston “divas” were treated to a full day of pampering, glamour and wellness by budding entrepreneurs and glam experts from across the Houston area on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
“DIVA DAY,” brought local business owners representing everything from fashion to fitness under one roof to show off their latest products at Cafe 4212 in the historic Third Ward district.
Women got the chance to shop, enjoy facials and hand massages, in addition to receiving make-up, healthy skin and hair tips from experts in the field. Not only did attendees get a chance to see the latest fashions exhibited by local boutique owners, they got the chance to “catch the flow” of the garments as models stomped the runway for the evening’s fashion show.
Michael “Cam” Jefferson, CEO of Grind365 Multimedia Group, the C.A.M. Agency and local TV show, “The Session,” created the event to help showcase the growing talent that Houston has to offer.
“The concept of DIVA DAY came from the urgent need to merge the elite within the fashion, beauty and wellness industries. We wanted to create a platform that would allow our current and potential clients to reach their consumer and target markets, while providing a unique shopping, educational and interactive experience,” Jefferson said.
The event was hosted by Dy’v L. Davis, host of “The Session TV” and Kim Roxie, owner of LAMIK Beauty. Attendees had the chance to win prizes during giveaways while enjoying live music and tasty cocktails, courtesy of Regalia Vodka. Also, patrons were given the opportunity to test drive vehicles provided by special guest Advantage BMW.
The turnout was better than the organizer expected.
“I’m very humbled and proud to see the vendors and patrons have a great time. It was refreshing to see people engaging in networking and commerce; all while having a memorable evening,” Jefferson said.
This was the second Diva Day held in Houston, but Jefferson said he plans to hold one every quarter.
The next event is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, at the Hilton Hotel, located at 6870 Southwest Freeway. The Bread of Life will be the official community sponsor for the event.
