Drake’s 5th and Future’s 2nd #1 debut on Billboard Top 200

DRAKE & FUTURE’S joint release, What A Time To Be Alive, bows at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 with sales exceeding 375,000 first-week.

The mixtape was released through Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records in association with Epic/A1/Freebandz exclusively at Apple Music and iTunes. What A Time To Be Alive breaks the previous Apple Music one-week record of 25 million streams which was held by Dr. Dre with 41 million streams in just over four days. The figure more than doubles the initial first week of streaming numbers earned by Drake’s acclaimed February release, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, at all partners combined.

DRAKE & FUTURE join an elite club of only 10 other artists who achieved #1 on the Billboard Top 200 with two albums in the same year. DRAKE’s last release, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late— is the year’s highest first week debut and holds the title of “first album to go platinum in 2015.” This also stands out as his fifth #1 entry on the chart to date. FUTURE’s last release in stores now, DS2, also debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart this year marking his second #1 entry on the chart to date. For the past ten consecutive weeks, FUTURE’s DS2 has been in the Top 4 Most Streamed Album’s on Spotify in the US and climbing.

After weeks of online hints and overwhelming internet buzz, DRAKE exclusively premiered What A Time To Be Alive on his Beats 1 show, OVO Sound in the hours prior to the release on Apple Music. Shortly after, it went live on iTunes and soared to #1 on the Overall Top Albums Chart after merely 37 minutes in North America. In addition to trending at #1 on Twitter and Facebook, it went #1 on iTunes in over 50 territories—UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, South Africa, and more.

What A Time To Be Alive is available now at all digital partners.

DRAKE is gearing up for the release of his next full-length studio album, Views From The Six, coming soon.
