On Tuesday, Sept. 13th, Radio One Houston’s KROI-FM Boom 92 will honor one of hip-hop’s most influential rappers of all time, Tupac Shakur, by playing all Tupac, all day. The Classic Hip-Hop station Boom 92 will change its name to “Boom 92Pac” in remembrance of the iconic rapper who died 20 years ago, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas.
“With tomorrow marking the 20th anniversary Tupac’s death we wanted to do something different for our listeners than just a one hour mix show. We want to take listeners on a journey thru the life of Tupac Shakur highlighting his unique sound that lives on today,” said Operations Manager Terri Thomas.
More than just a rapper, actor and poet Tupac was an artist that shed light on social issues such as teen pregnancy, violence, and racism; all of which are still prevalent in today’s society. His music will forever live on to promote social consciousness and change.
Listeners can tune into Boom 92pac tomorrow from 9am to midnight in celebration of the life and legacy the rap icon. Those away from a radio can always listen online at boom92houston.com or stream live via the Boom 92 app. Download the Boom 92 app at your Google play or Apple app store by searching “Boom92”.
