Will body-shaming ever come to an end?
After Sports Illustrated Magazine debuted their first “plus size” model Ashley Graham on the cover, the public gave praises for the magazine going in a different direction for its February issue. But…there were some criticisms as well.
Enter…Cheryl Tiegs……
The legendary model and actress took jabs at Graham last Thursday, calling her size “problematic” and even went as far as putting her two cents on what her “ideal” size should be.
“I don’t like it that we’re talking about full-figured women because we’re glamorizing them, and your waist should be smaller than 35 [inches],” Tiegs said. “That’s what Dr. Oz said and I’m sticking to it.”
While Tiegs acknowledges that Graham is beautiful , she feels that society should not glamorize her size and that it is unhealthy.
“I don’t think it’s healthy,” Tiegs added, referring to Graham. “Her face is beautiful, beautiful. But I don’t think it’s healthy in the long run.”

Fans were not going to let the Tiegs get away with her unwarranted comments and social media went into a frenzy.
“Thanks @CherylTiegs for taking us back to the 1950s. Seriously minds like ur cause eating disorders in our youth #thickisin #plussizehealthy” tweeted @nocaresgiven11
“@CherylTiegs Stop. You are not the standard anymore. Women come in all shapes and sizes, why not celebrate that? You are not a doctor.” tweeted @artisticwings
Since making her comments on E. News, Tiegs has come out and apologized for criticizing Graham.
“My sincere apologies to everyone I have hurt. I truly just want everyone to be healthy & happy,” she tweeted Friday.
Graham appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show on Monday, and said she loves her body, then schooled the public on what the average body size actually is.
“I’ve always been told at a young age that plus size starts at a size eight to a size 16, so the majority of this room is plus size,” Graham said. “For me I just like to call it sexy curvalicious.”
Looks like the model is not allowing the haters to get her down. Good for her!
And Ms. Tiegs, lease have several seats! Respectfully. And to be fair, many have sounded off about Tiegs’ looks today, but she really was quite astonishing in her day. Check out one of her “throwback” Sports Illustrated photos. Tiny waist and all.
