As many of you know, Oprah is the queen of giving stellar performances behind the screens. From her outstanding moment in The Color Purple to Greenleaf, Ms. O is preparing to give us more of her. Oprah is playing as Deborah Lacks in the upcoming HBO film The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks.
Based on the bestselling nonfiction book by Author Rebecca Skloot, The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks is told personally by Henrietta’s daughter, Deborah Lacks. For those of you who are wondering who is Henrietta Lacks, here is a brief history lesson about her contribution to medical history. Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman who suffered from cervical cancer. With her condition being so rare, her cells were used as scientific research and were named, HeLa cells.
