SPRING, Texas — When constable deputies and firefighters in Harris County respond to emergencies, they oftentimes encounter children who were just involved in a car accident, fire or other devastating event. The children are sometimes confused, upset and traumatized by the situation around them. To help support these children, Avanti Senior Living at Augusta Pines is holding a teddy bear drive through the month of June with its first ever Teddy Bear Tea events at the community’s sales gallery. Avanti Senior Living at Augusta Pines (24520 Community Center Drive in Spring) encourages the public to drop off new teddy bears in June on Mondays – Fridays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. or Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. In addition, the public is invited to bring a bear to the Teddy Bear Tea events on Sunday, June 25 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. or Tuesday, June 27 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tea and light refreshments will be served during the events. Avanti Senior Living believes in helping the greater community, and the team hopes that the bears will provide comfort in the children’s time of need.
“It is important to us that we positively impact the lives of families who live in our area, and this is a wonderful opportunity to bring a feeling of love and support to children who are going through very tough times,” said Kelly P. Hodges, community relations director of Avanti Senior Living at Augusta Pines. “We welcome area families and seniors to help us spread the feeling of comfort and happiness by donating teddy bears. We will donate these to local first responders, and they will carry these small tokens with them to hand out to children. With your help, we can show some of the youngest members of our community that we all care about their well-being.”
Avanti welcomes the public to drop off their new teddy bears all month long. The Avanti team will deliver them to the Harris County Constable, Precinct 4, as well as the Spring Fire Department.
