The “Just Do It” brand has done it again! Recently Nike released their extended sizes apparel line that caters to plus women, with sizes ranging from 1X-3X, and now, the company is set to release their new Pro Hijab line for female Muslim athletes.
This new design will allow Muslim women to compete in sports while still honoring their beliefs. Honestly, the Hijab line couldn’t have come at a better time.
Despite the recent political decisions to instate a Muslim ban, Nike has chosen to take a stand against this social injustice.
According to the Washington Post, the “Nike Pro Hajib was inspired, the company says, by Sarah Attar, a runner from Saudi Arabia who competed in the London Olympics 800-meter race while wearing a hijab, and by Amna Al Haddad, an Emerati weightlifter who competed in the Rio Olympics last summer.”
The design features a lightweight breathable mesh material made from polyester and it also has an elongated back to eliminate lifting or shifting while the athletes are competing.
Nike plans to launch the Hijab line in spring 2018.
