A motorcycle accident left rapper Fetty Wap with a broken leg and three citations, one day after the release of his debut album, Fetty Wap. The accident happened Saturday afternoon in his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey.
Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Maxwell, was trying to pass a vehicle when he collided with another vehicle coming toward him in the opposite direction. Although he wasn’t wearing a helmet, he was able to dodge life-threating injuries, but wasn’t able to dodge citations. He was ticketed for driving without a license, driving without insurance and failing to provide a valid registration card. OUCH!
An associate of the rapper, DJ Louie Styles, later tweeted photos of an alert Fetty in the hospital and assured fans that “Wap is Gucci.” The photo shows a splint securing the rapper’s leg.
The day after the accident, Fetty posted a video of himself on Instagram thanking fans and revealing his injuries. He also told fans not to worry, and that he will be back soon!
“Appreciate Ya so much for the prayers … they told me don’t make a video but I’m still breathing so I gotta let ya no I’ll be back ???❤️??,” Fetty captioned the video. In the video, which just showed a close-up view of his face, Fetty revealed that he broke his leg in three places.
Fans have taken to social media to show their support, with many posting well-wishes and tweeting the hashtag #PrayforFetty.
Fetty has had a lot of success in the past year with three Top 10 songs, including the hit “Trap Queen,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. He was expected to start his tour next week, but it is not known if he will be moving forward with the tour.
