In a day and age where the authorities want to tell you how you can punish your kids — which, in essence, is NOT to punish them — a barber came up with a pretty “hair raising” way to make boys act right. He uses SHAME!
Russell Fredrick of A-1 Kutz barbershop in Snellville, Georgia, near Atlanta offers the “Benjamin Button Special” or the “old man” haircut for little boys who misbehave and/or think they are grown men.
Well one mom took him up on his offer and after the photo was posted on Facebook, a media flurry ignited.
“So you wana act grown…well now you can look grown too. The grown-up kids special by: @rusty_fred,” Russell Fredrick posted on the barbershop’s Facebook page.
Some commenters thought it was a bit harsh, while others thought it was right on the money.
The inspiration came from Fredrick’s own life, when he was having trouble last year with his 12-year-old son, CNN affiliate WXIA reports.
The frustrated dad told him to quit acting up in school “like an old foolish man.”
Fredrick shaved his son’s head bald and then showed him a picture of an old bald man, like the character in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” In the movie starring Taraji P. Henson and Brad Pitt, Benjamin begins life as an old man and ages in reverse.
“I showed him and I told him, this is your next one if you keep it up,” Fredrick told him. “He didn’t want it, so he got his act together.”
Now, how much does the not-so-cool cut cost? It is absolutely FREE for those in need!
And whatever happened to the young man who received the cut? Well, he says he’s learned his lesson and guess what, he got a NICE young man’s cut now to go with his new attitude.
And Frederick updated the readers with a new post.
“Welp…pic went so hard over the net @rusty_fred had to fix it today. But lil man says he’s learned his lesson and he doesn’t want them kinda problems again..” he posted.
