People from Killeen and all over the nation were in mourning as Taliq Davis, a child famous on social media and known for fighting brain cancer, passed away.

According to KWTX, Taliq faced a setback after the tumor on his brain came back. Since his symptoms returned, Taliq had to remain at McLane Children’s Hospital in Temple.

People were able to follow Taliq’s journey all over social media after his mother encouraged people to send him birthday cards in order to give him a 10th birthday he would never forget. According to SB Nation, MVP Steph Curry, Davis’ favorite basketball player, met him due to a team community relations manager finding out about Taliq’s story, and even gave him “Happy Birthday” wishes on Twitter.

The Dana-Farber Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorder Center describes diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma or DIPG as being “highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumors found at the base of the brain.” The  organization further describes that “The tumors are found in an area of the brainstem called the pons, which controls many of the body’s most vital functions such as breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate.”

The Davis family has launched a Go Fund Me page in order to send Taliq off the right way. Our prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
