Whatever happened to R-E-S-P-E-C-T? You know you better “bow down to the queen” –especially when the queen is non-other than the “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin.
The memes started flying as the legendary singer belted out what may have felt like the longest version of the “Star Spangled Banner” ever sang in history.
Franklin, fur coat-clad with a Detroit beanie on her head, sat at a piano in the middle of Michigan Ford Field, and patiently sang a soulful rendition of the national anthem, while Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings players stood for 4 minutes and 35 seconds, hands on hearts, waiting patiently for her to end.
