PALM SPRINGS, Calif.—A 69-year-old woman from Palm Springs was arrested over the weekend after trying to cut off her husband’s penis, according to the NY Daily News.
Palm Springs police said Virginia Valdez was arrested on suspicion of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and spousal abuse.
The woman reportedly went berserk and went after her husband with a pair of heavy-duty scissors during some sort of altercation.
The husband was able to fight her off, saving his family jewels, but did receive some injuries to the area.
“Officers made contact with a 62-year-old male victim who reported that his wife had attempted to sever his penis with scissors, resulting in injuries to the area,” Palm Springs Police spokeswoman Sgt. Melissa Desmarais said. “The victim received medical attention at a local hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening wound.”
Valdez was released Sunday on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear back in court on January 31.
