It was an evening of glitz and glam Saturday as people packed the Astorian in the Heights for the Musicians’ Wives launch party.
Many notables were in attendance including Darian Ward, press secretary for the mayor of Houston; local entertainer Just Brittany and news anchors Chauncy Glover of ABC-13 and Jonathan Martin of Fox 26 News.
The #TMWLaunchParty was hosted by award-winning singer and songwriter Leela James, of R & B Divas, and Radio One personality K.G. Smooth, best known as the voice of Majic 102.1 FM’s “Quiet Storm.”
The Musicians’ Wives are a group of women who bring support to other women connected to the entertainment industry. The wives consist of founder, Brandi Jackson (married to guitarist/producer Barry Jackson), co-Founder Diana Tribitt (married to bassist/producer, Patrick Zuriel Tribitt), and members Greta Williams (married to drummer/producer Patrick Williams), Shelia Moore-Piper (married to keyboardist/producer Zachery “GP” Piper), Kanita Turner (married to saxophonist Kyle Turner) and Sonya Early (married to keyboardist/producer Parrish Early).
Mayor Sylvester Turner declared May 28, 2016 “Musicians’ Wives Day” and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee presented a proclamation to the group while expressing her sincere gratitude for its efforts in helping the community, especially in light of the recent floods.
For entertainment, the MW husbands took the stage and the dance floor was kicked into high gear.
The wives say they will continue to do philanthropy in Houston and the surrounding areas and credit all of their past and future succcess to God. The wives want to implement musically-inclined events with a purpose, and on June 24, TMW will host The Bonnie & Clyde Gifting Suite for the 2016 BET Awards in Los Angeles.
