HOUSTON—Houstonians are invited to celebrate National Rum Day (August 16, 2013) by kicking off a two-day stretch of Caribbean festivities at the 3rd Annual Caribbean RumFest, August 16-17, 2013 at the House of Dereon Media Center, located in Houston’s Midtown District (2204 Crawford Street Houston, TX 77002).
A much-anticipated event amongst a diverse crowd of rum enthusiasts, travel buffs, Caribbean music, cuisine and culture lovers, the 3rd Annual Caribbean RumFest offers festival-goers two days of tastings and samplings of the finest rum labels, premium cocktails and a stellar line-up of live music and Caribbean entertainment. The festival also features rousing activities such as rum-infused/Caribbean cooking demonstrations and cook-off contests, Caribbean rum history and a number of art and specialty product vendors.
Tickets for the 3rd Annual Caribbean RumFest can be purchased at http://rumfesthouston.eventbrite.com. Along with General Admission and VIP ticket options, the festival offers “Designated Driver” passes. “Designated Driver” ticket-buyers will receive T-Shirts upon entry indicating that they are intended designated drivers for the day, in an effort to promote responsible drinking during the two-day event.

The Caribbean RumFest exists to showcase, promote, celebrate, and educate the Houston community and city tourists about the history and culture of the Caribbean and Rum Spirits through the provision of its festivities. Its aim is to be a sustainable and effective festival that is recognized as a significant contributor to the economic social and environmental fabric of the city and community. A portion of the proceeds of the 3rd Annual Caribbean Rum Fest will go to support Roots Family Services, a family restoration organization dedicated to restoring and assisting the family units of Houston.
