Eighties rapper Tone Loc had a bit of a health scare this weekend when he collapsed on stage during a performance on a Des Moines, Iowa bridge.
The 47-year-old artist, whose real name is Anthony Smith, refused to be taken to the hospital Saturday after collapsing at the end of a song, according to the Associated Press.
This is apparently not the first time Loc has suffered health issues. He collapsed and had a seizure at a 2009 concert in Pensacola and, another time, he collapsed at a Los Angeles Lakers game in 1995. The reason for the health issue at the game was unknown.
Loc, with his dusky, distinctive voice and laid-back demeanor gave us megahits in the 80s with songs like “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.” He also had a brief, successful acting career playing in movies alongside Jim Carey (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective) and Al Pacino (Heat.)
We think he needs to take a break and give himself some rest. We wish him well and a speedy recovery!
