CYPRESS, Texas – Bridgeland® has added a new level of character to its already popular Lakeland Village Center® in Cypress. While tenants continue to move into Bridgeland’s first commercial village, this new layer of Texas charm is not simply found on display inside a shop, but is an integral part of the Center’s design.
Designed to showcase traditional small-town architecture, Lakeland Village Center now includes a series of murals and signage painted over the center’s reddish clay brick. The artwork is distressed to give it a vintage flavor, in a process that artist Anat Ronen calls a ghosting technique. It’s a new feature for the community and one that Bridgeland feels will create an instant connection with residents.
“The thoughtful design and quality you find in Bridgeland is meant to be a part of everything we create – from the parks, schools and amenities right through to our commercial centers,” said Jim Carman, Vice President of MPC Commercial Development for Bridgeland. “It’s that charm and authenticity that we find so intriguing in Anat’s work and why we chose her for the project.”
It took Ronen several weeks to complete the project, creating a series of murals that look weathered and aged, an effect created by thinning paint before applying it with a skilled hand.
Located adjacent to Lakeland Heights®, Lakeland Village Center combines traditional small-town Texas architecture with a contemporary blend of more than 84,000 square feet of mixed-use development, all within walking distance for nearby residents. With a grand opening planned for later this year, Lakeland Village Center is the first of four village centers planned in Bridgeland, offering a variety of dining, retail, professional services, medical offices and employment opportunities.
The commercial center already boasts several tenants including CVS/pharmacy®, Marble Slab Creamery, Pinot’s Palette, Active Life Dentistry, Bridgeland Council, Great Clips, Nails of America, Select Physical Therapy, RE/MAX and Cypress Endodontics. Future tenants include Le Macaron, Eye Trends, Best Brains, Bridgeland Fine Wines, Envoy Mortgage, and Pizza Cucinova.
Like the community itself, Lakeland Village Center will have several phases of expansion. Future phases will be designed to offer water views and a cohesive village center that brings together a diverse and carefully cultivated mix of experiences to complement living in Bridgeland, according to Heath Melton, Vice President of Master Planned Communities.
“It’s our intention to make Lakeland Village Center the first hub of commercial experiences in Bridgeland and to do so in an authentic and complementary way,” Melton said.
