DEUCES – OR NOT???? It seems as if T.I announced during an interview on “Ebro In The Morning”” that he and Iggy Azalea were cutting professional ties, but wait, things might have changed.
The Grand Hustle Leader told Hot 97 that the business relationship between his former protégé and himself was at a resting point, if you wil.
T.I. went on to say the wedge between the two of them started some time ago, but the icing on the cake was the controversy between Iggy and hip-hop legend Q-TIP.
You might recall last December, Q-tip called out the “Fancy” rapper for her appropriating black culture and detailed hip-hop’s history in more than 30 tweets. This, of course, led to a huge Twitter brawl. And if you ask me, it got pretty UGLY!
Tip says he tried to save Azalea from the backlash, but he could do no more with the situation.
“After the QTip thing, I kind of had smoothed it over, like okay, ‘What is really meant to be said here is…’ Everything was cool, and then they [Iggy’s team] kind of came back and undid what I had just [accomplished]. I’ma be all the way real, I’m a loyal partner. If I rock with you I’m gon’ rock with you…I really do feel that they just needed a little more time to adjust, which I feel they can do. They have the talent, they have the charisma,” T.I. said.
Ouch! T.I was part of the reason Azalea was on the map and topping the charts. The rapper says there was no bad blood between the two, but they would be parting ways.
Once Iggy caught wind of the interview, she posted on Twitter that she is very much so still signed to Grand Hustle Records. Apparently this was the Australian rapper’s first time hearing the news.
Heres the deal, I am still signed to @tip and do business with him. The first ive heard of us having an issue is via a radio interview. Personally, i dont think the radio is the place to talk about your personal issues with someone thats part of your team. Im sure tip will publicly clarify what he meant when he feels he has the right platform to do so and other than that, im chillin.”
So did Tip clear it up and are they back in Hustle la-la land?
In an interview with The Associated Press Thursday night, T.I. said that he still considers Iggy his “little sister.” He said his words were taken out of context and Iggy is still signed to the Grand Hustle label.
She dittoed that Thursday on Twitter.
“That’s still my partner. Her life has taken her in a different direction. My life is still as it was before. But Iggy is doing what she feels makes Iggy happy. That’s what she should do. We’re focused on making the next Iggy record and dodge the same adversities we faced last time,” T.I. tweeted.
Alas rich folks, can’t we all just get along…and make more music! Congrats to the lucky “couple”.. lol
