TAIPEI, Taiwan—HTC Corp. is making serious money – and apparently – is dropping serious chunks of it to make even more. The Taiwanese smartphone company says it will pay about $300 million for a 51 percent stake in the U.S. maker of Dr. Dre headphones.
The “Super Producer” founded Beats Electronics LLC in 2006 and the company’s headphones sell for as much as $600.
HTC is a leading handset manufacturer that is best known for its Android-based smartphones, and this new acquisition may improve its brand profile and secure a bigger global market share of their high-end devices.
HTC said the alliance will provide a “flawless listening experience for our customers.” The deal is set to finalize sometime later this year.
Hmmm..Dr. Dre seems to have the “Midas Touch” in everything he does. This original N.W.A. shows he is one hell of a business man as well!
