Detroit native Big Sean has donated $15,000 to benefit Wayne State University’s HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher Program).
The HIGH Program was founded in 2013 to address student homelessness at Wayne State University. The mission of the program is to support students who struggle to balance their Wayne State University studies with meeting life’s most basic needs of food, shelter and childcare.
According to wayne.edu, the Sean Anderson Foundation has helped contribute to the program by donating $25,000 in 2016. Big Sean has proved his dedication to the program by improving the quality of life for young people, especially Wayne State students.
The Sean Anderson Foundation was founded in 2012 by the recording artist. Sean’s vision is to improve the quality of life for young people and their families. The foundation accomplishes this by partnering with other established organizations by providing avenues for supplemental educational, cultural, health and recreational programs, and through its signature educational program, Mogul Prep.
“It’s such a pleasure to support a program that has an immediate impact on students facing hardship,” said Myra Anderson, president of the foundation and Sean’s mother. “The HIGH Program, through its support and encouragement offered to students, is making a difference in their lives. We are excited to offer our support through the foundation.”
“The Sean Anderson Foundation has been a past supporter of the HIGH Program through generous financial support assisting students in need,” said Wilson. “With this gift, the foundation is continuing its commitment to help Wayne State students who are experiencing homelessness move forward to a rewarding future.”
The funds will be used to provide short-term support to Wayne State students experiencing homelessness or precarious housing situations.
