Attention Harry Potter fans! The Houston Symphony will delight fans of the Harry Potter franchise with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert July 21-22 as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.

The Houston Symphony is teaming up with dozens of students from Crespo Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School Dance Department and Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School Dance Ensemble for a modern-day staging of the 1911 ballet Petrushka, to be premiered at 8 p.m. May 11 and 13 and 2:30 p.m. May 14 at Jones Hall.

The Houston Symphony announced Tuesday the details of its free family-friendly summer concerts during the months of June and July. A Houston tradition, these evening concerts are held in various casual venues across Greater Houston, including the iconic Miller Outdoor Theatre, making these performances accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

The Houston Symphony will celebrate Mardi Gras family-style with performances of Mardi Gras Menagerie! at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Jones Hall. The jazzy, fun-filled celebration will be led by Associate Conductor Robert Franz.

The Houston Symphony’s 102nd season will come to a close in May 2016 with a varied sampling of Family, Classical, and POPS concerts.

The Houston Symphony announced the launch of On the Music, a free podcast series that provides an in-depth look at the works featured in Houston Symphony classical concerts, bringing into focus the relevance of this musical genre for today’s listeners.
