Angry fans flooded Tyler Perry with emails barking their disapproval of the filmmaker’s choice to cast Kim Kardashian in his upcoming movie, “The Marriage Counselor.”

Perry announced that Kardashian would have a role in the movie shortly before she ended her 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries.  The couple’s short-lived marriage, which followed their E! Fairytale Wedding Special and whirlwind romance, has come under fire, with many claiming the Kardashian family used Humphries in a ploy to make more money.

Since then, they have hurled insults at the family on blogs and social media sites, even starting petitions to boycott the E! reality series featuring any Kardashian, but Perry defended his decision, saying he cast her to help attract younger viewers.

“I could not have imagined I’d be getting all these emails about Kim Kardashian. I HAVE SEEN THEM!! YOU HAVE BEEN HEARD!! …LOL. Now, may I say something? Can a brother get a word in?….LOL. Y’all gave me a new movie title, Tyler Perry’s “Diary of a Mad Black Woman Cause You Hired Kim Kardashian, Don’t Make Me Take Off My Earrings and Boycott Yo A**.”…LOL.,” a message on his website stated.

Perry goes on to write that after reviewing his work, he thought the movie’s message should definitely be heard by the younger generation.  He immediately cast Jurnee Smolett and Lance Gross in the lead roles, and needed some more fresh faces to round out the crew.  He then asked his producer who else would fit the bill.

“One of my producers showed me pictures that his daughter had taken of several hundred kids lined up around the corner to get into a Kardashian store. They wanted to meet Kim. I thought, what better person! She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film,” Perry said.

Perry, whose movies always teach life lessons –even through far-fetched comedy , asked his fans for understanding and acceptance of his decision, feeling the movie role could even do Kardashian some good.

“I believe that my films speak from the inside out, why wouldn’t Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God?  What is wrong with that??” he said.

Perry’s passionate plea on Kardashian’s behalf still may not win over some who are dead-set on making her villainess of the year.

Multiple grassroots petitions, including Boycott Kim and No More Kardashian, have sprung up and a Facebook page  is dedicated to bringing the family down.  Some of the petitions have even gotten more than 100,000 signatures, according to Yahoo! News and the Facebook page has gotten over 50,000 “Likes.”

The angry fans are calling the Kardashian clan money-grubbers and fame whores that America is tired of, but many of their faitful followers disagree, showing their continued love and support.

Wow, is all we have to say.  Everyone loves a fairy tale, and no one loves broken heart.  Unfortunately, Kardashian is taking a beating on this one.  We wish her and the jilted Humphries all the best and hope everyone can pick up the pieces and move on.

On another note, we at Lip Service:  News with Attitude “love us some Tyler Perry” and “Kim or no-Kim,” we will be in the audience waiting to receive his message when the movie comes out — we are suckers for love!  See you in the theaters!
