HAIR RAISING WONDERWEEK, OCT. 11 – 19

Play Dr. Frankenstein and bring monsters to life during our Hair Raising WonderWeek, Oct. 11 to 19, when Glow in the Dark Monsters reveal themselves.  Put on your Wickedly Mad Scientist Wigs and Goggles and recreate Luigi Galvani’s famous experiment from nearly 250 years ago, as you use electricity to make the leg of a paper frog jump!  Wire together your own electrifyingly Freaky Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein Masks.   Hook up hand crank generators to a volt-meter and transmogrify mechanical energy into electrical energy.  Make uncanny supernatural hues appear when you make spellbinding Music Responsive LED lights.  Let’s hope you have a hair raising good time!

HALLOWEEN TRICKS AND SPELLS WONDERWEEK, OCT. 20 – 26

Cast an eerie spell during our Halloween Tricks and Spells WonderWeek, Oct. 20 to 26.  Ooze with amazement and ickiness as you create your own gooey concoction of monster slime.  Explore color mixing as you read Mike Austin’s “Monsters Love Colors” and then create your own colorful monster!  Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble, Eye of newt and scale of dragon; make enchanting Popsicle stick potion bottles and capture the magic.  Put on your charm, become a snake charmer, and make slithering snakes embrace your arms as Charming Snake [bead] Bracelets.  Celebrate all things creepy and crawly as you evoke your fingers to spin out of control to create Spider Web designs.  Discover what lurks in the dark as you waft scent towards your nose and try to match a bat mother’s scent to her correct baby’s scent.  Don’t forget to pay respect to your ancestors with Paper Sugar Skull masks in celebration of El Día de los Muertos.

SPECIAL HALLOWEEN MONSTER MAYHEM EVENTS:

MAD SCIENTIST DEMOS, OCT. 15, 11 A.M. – 3 P.M.

Save the Museum from ectoplasmic chaos!   Help the Ghostbusters gang investigate and capture pesky ghouls.  Come out and enjoy Ghostbusters character appearances and activities including designing Ecto Goggles, channeling Slimer and making Slimer Masks and creating spooky Ghost Dolls to take home with you.  Don’t forget to bring your camera!  I ain’t afraid of no ghost!
