Texas Hunger Initiative is joining the Houston Independent School District in celebrating the beginning of the Summer Meal Program for children and teens at more than 200 HISD schools. The Summer Meal Program provides FREE healthy breakfasts and lunches at locations across the Houston area.

The “Summer Food, Summer Fun”  kick-off parties, located at Gregg Elementary (6701 Roxbury, 77807) on Wednesday, June 3 at 10 a.m. and at Rodriguez  Elementary (5858 Chimney Rock, 77081) on Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m., will feature giveaways, music, and carnival games.

As part of Share Our Strength’s® Texas No Kid Hungry Campaign, the Texas Hunger Initiative is
partnering with HISD, the City of Houston, The Houston Food Bank, and several school districts
to help fill the summer food gap by raising awareness about the program and making it easier for
families and children to find a summer meal site.

Free summer meals will be provided to all children and youths ages 18 and younger. Children do  not need to be enrolled to participate. No paperwork, registration or proof of income required.
