BEAUMONT, Texas  – Calling all hounds and their humans.  On October 8, Beaumont Main Street will host the 9th annual Dogtoberfest in “Central Bark,” –  the green area between the Julie Rogers Theater and the Beaumont Public Library.

The day’s lineup of parades, contests and fun activities makes for a family-friendly fall outing. Admission to the festival and parking are free, Contests each require a $2 ticket, available for purchase on site. All proceeds and sponsorships benefit the revitalization efforts of Beaumont’s historical downtown.

Dogtoberfest kicks off  at 8 a.m. with breakfast tacos by Blue Dave’s BBQ, followed by the “Strut your Mutt” Parade (no tickets required to participate.).  Throughout the day — a variety of contests —  including Master/Dog Look Alike, Cutest Dog, Most Talented Dog, Best Dressed, Best Tail Wagging and Best Howler – will be held.  In addition, Mr. & Mrs. Dogtoberfest 2016 will be chosen, and the winner of the popular Facebook “Favorite” (the pooch receiving the most “likes” on the Beaumont Main Street Facebook page) will be revealed. The festivities, which ends at 2 p.m., will culminate in an adoptable dog show and a parade of service dogs.

Pet owners can enjoy food truck fare, moonwalks, photo booths, and more with their furry friends, who must be held or leashed. Rest and relax near theFountain of Woof with a bite from the Bone Appetite Food Court. Stroll down Puppy Dog Lane where dog rescue groups and canine advocates share information and tips. Dogs can have their paw read by Madam Poodle Paw, get a little pampering in the Day SPAW, shop at Neiman Barkus, and receive a special blessing.
